- There are essentially five key strategic areas that you will need to focus on when you play Texas Hold'em cash games. For Texas Hold'em tournament strategy, there exists a whole set of other poker tournament tips. While there are many things that add up to good poker strategy, we feel that these are the Top Five for new or intermediate players.
- Usually, the first decision you make in a hand of Texas Hold 'Em Poker happens with your only knowledge being what your two cards are. When you look at your cards, be careful not to reveal anything with your reaction—facial or otherwise.

Offered during MIT's Independent Activites Period (IAP), this short course covers the poker concepts, math concepts, and general concepts needed to play the game of Texas Hold'em on a professional level.
IAP is a special 4-week term in January that provides members of the MIT community including students, faculty, staff, and alums with an opportunity to organize, sponsor and participate in a wide variety of activities and topics that are often outside of the regular MIT curriculum.
